Multiple Entry Paths
The MSN: Adult Gerontology 鈥 Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree is a 46- to 52-credit program of study depending upon entry path:

Licensure
Registered nurses who complete this advanced degree coursework and clinical education are qualified to sit for the national exam to become certified as an Adult Gerontology 鈥 Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC).

Safety: Analyze factors (human, environmental, systems) that pose risk to patients, providers, and healthcare systems, and consider plans to mitigate this risk.
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP): Evaluate available evidence utilizing knowledge of research design to develop plans of care and evaluate patient outcomes. Utilize EB guidelines and adapt in accordance with patient preferences, as appropriate, to develop plans of care.
Informatics: Utilize appropriate technologies (e.g., EMR, electronic databases) to access, document, and disseminate knowledge and data to promote optimal patient outcomes.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Integrate intra- and inter-professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes to enhance patient-centered care and optimize healthcare outcomes.
Quality Improvement: Utilize leadership skills, knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, behavior, and quality improvement measures to advocate for improved access to care, optimum healthcare delivery, and improved patient outcomes.

There are four other tracks offered in the online Master of Science in Nursing program.
Dr. Donna Proulx, Ph.D., RN, CCRN, CSC, the Program Director for Graduate & Doctoral Nursing Education, is working to advance substance use disorders treatment for vulnerable populations. Her doctoral research was a qualitative inquiry titled 鈥淭he Lived Experience of Postpartum Women Attending Outpatient Substance-Abuse Treatment for Opioid or Heroin Use.鈥 She holds two certifications in critical care from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)鈥攐ne in adult critical care (CCRN) and a second in adult cardiac surgery (CSC)鈥攁nd is a past president of the New Hampshire Chapter of AACN.
